Historical outline of tower clock construction tower clocks w rodzinie Łaniów
The initiative to build a tower clock was undertaken by Franciszek Łania half a century ago when the construction of a new church began in his hometown parish of Świętoniowa near Przeworsk. The creator decided to personally make the entire clock mechanism in his locksmith workshop as a gift to the newly emerging temple.
He had no special education or theoretical preparation in this regard; he was self-taught. He knew clock mechanisms because he repaired old, sometimes very old clocks of various types, requiring the making of worn-out or damaged parts.
Thanks for the first tower clock made were documented in the parish chronicle by the then parish priest on October 22, 1967.
The clock was constructed to serve several functions:
- indicates time on four hourly dials
- strikes full hours and half hours
- rings the 'Angelus' according to tradition three times a day at sunrise, noon, and sunset.
Due to the lack of specialized machinery, the creator handmade most of the parts with clockmaker precision, allowing the clock to operate to this day without the need for repairs or failures.
